A fear of fungi

The most recent estimate of global annual attributable deaths due to fungal pathogens is around 2.5 million - more than due to HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, breast or prostate cancer. Despite this, we have few classes of antifungals, no vaccines and a limited array of diagnostics to deal with this major health care challenge. Professor Neil Gow will discuss this during his lecture, and will look into the world of fungal pathogens.
