Bioinformatics is an ever-expanding field of biology with diverse applications for analysing biological data. As the generation of terabytes of data in research projects becomes more common, large-scale, accessible and accurate data analyses are needed more than ever. The multidisciplinary nature of bioinformatics – combining statistics, computer science and programming – aids the creation of pipelines and work frames for data analysis[1]. So why do many researchers shy away from it?
