Hear from RSB Honorary Fellow, Sir Patrick Vallance, as he discusses his varied career to date

Sir Patrick Vallance is a British physician and scientist who has worked in both academia and industry, and many of us will recognise him from his time as the Chief Scientific Adviser to the UK Government throughout the pandemic. He is currently the chair of the Natural History Museum in London, and has experience working within academic research and teaching, and pharmaceutical research and development.

Throughout his career, he has made important discoveries in the field of vascular biology, and under his leadership new medicines for cancer, asthma, autoimmune diseases and HIV infection have been discovered and approved for use worldwide.

In this online talk, we will hear about Sir Patrick's career path as he moved between sectors and a variety of roles within bioscience. He will also be highlighting the importance of providing scientific advice to policymaking, and engaging with learned societies.

Sir Patrick has been awarded an RSB Honorary Fellowship in recognition of his exceptional service to the field of biology.
