This talk will include discussions on how we can protect and improve natural capital and the benefits it provides in our towns and cities, in the wider context of planning and infrastructure development

During this event, attendees will hear from three experts working in this space, followed by a Q&A session.

Speakers

  • Professor Laurence Jones, UK Centre for Ecology & Hyrdrology

  • Ian Houlston, LDA Design
Talk overview: All master planning and design needs to effectively synthesise carbon management alongside other ecosystem goods and services in an integrated and holistic way, informed by evidence. From creating functioning connected habitat networks, regenerating soils and natural flood management, to contributing to the character of a place and creating healthy and hospitable environments in extreme temperatures, Natural capital has a critical role. In his talk, Ian will provide an overview of recent projects that have adopted an ecosystems approach to planning and design.
