Bioscience Careers Group
- Details
- 13 April 2013
The Bioscience Careers Group (now the Careers Committee) brought together a number of learned societies and trade bodies representing the biosciences who work together to provide information and advice on careers in the biosciences.
These organisations promote and support people working in a particular bioscience discipline, whose members can include academics, researchers, students and teachers. They organise scientific conferences, publish specialist journals, books and other resources, run competitions and awards, offer travel grants and bursaries and funding for summer studentships for their members.
Resources
The Bioscience Careers Group has created the 'Make A Difference' website with information on the wide range of opportunities that a career in biology can bring.
The Bioscience Careers Group has also co-authored a careers resource for bioscience undergraduate students and graduates. Next steps: Options after a Bioscience Degree features guidance and information on:
- Job seeking strategies
- The importance of skills
- Postgraduate study options, both in and outside science research
- Making applications and interview techniques
The guide also includes example CV’s, information on careers in teaching, medicine, dentistry, healthcare, and a comprehensive resource list. The guide is available to order online in larger quantities. Boxes of 50 copies can now be ordered at cost price.
