RSB Fellows elected to Royal Society of Edinburgh Fellowship

The Royal Society of Biology offers its congratulations to two of its Fellows who have recently been elected as Fellows of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland’s National Academy for the deployment of knowledge for public good.
Coming from academic institutions in Scotland, the Fellows voted in are leaders in their fields and are recognised for their work in environmental and reproductive biology.
The Fellows are as follows:
Professor Jamie Newbold FRSE FRSB
Provost and Deputy Principal, Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC)
Professor Evelyn Telfer CBE FRSE FRSB
Professor of Reproductive Biology, University of Edinburgh
Professor Jamie Newbold is Provost and Deputy Principal at SRUC (Scotland’s Rural College). His research interests focus on the understanding and manipulation of gut ecosystems to improve animal productivity while reducing the environmental impact of animal husbandry.
Professor Evelyn Telfer is a reproductive biologist, internationally recognised for pioneering work on fertility preservation. She holds a chair in Reproductive Biology at the University of Edinburgh where she heads a research group focusing on development and maturation of human oocytes in vitro.
As a membership organisation RSB relies on the support of its Fellows and members to influence policy, advance education and professional development, and encourage public interest in the life sciences.
