The RSB is pleased to welcome outgoing Government Chief Scientific Adviser Sir Patrick Vallance as an Honorary Fellow (Hon FRSB), in recognition of his exceptional service and significant impact in this key role.

Sir Patrick became a household name, regularly appearing alongside the Prime Minister in the government’s televised briefings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Commenting on his Honorary Fellowship, Sir Patrick said: "I am delighted to join the RSB at a time when biology is so important for everything from human health to protecting biodiversity and tackling climate change.”

RSB chief executive, Dr Mark Downs CBiol CSci FRSB, said: "We are delighted to recognise Sir Patrick’s exceptional contribution to science with an Honorary Fellowship of the Society, and I would take this opportunity to thank him publicly for the significant support he has given to the Society while in post."
