Big Biology Days

Big Biology Days are a one-day science festival, bringing together a variety of biological organisations under one roof to celebrate the life sciences by engaging the general public with an array of hands-on activities, displays and talks.

Usually held in a local school during a weekend or school holiday, Big Biology Days transform school halls and corridors into festival stands with hands on activities, games, crafts, talks, and other fun and engaging activities that highlight and get people talking about science.

Outreach and engagement pages

The Royal Society of Biology East Anglia branch devised and ran the first ever Big Biology Day, and they have evolved to be bigger and better every year. These are becoming a more and more popular option for those wanting to get involved in outreach as an opportunity to share their passion for biology and the natural world, regardless of scientific background.

We were delighted that a number of Big Biology Days took place throughout the UK in and around Biology Week and we hope that more of you are inspired to run your own BBD in 2020.

During our anniversary year, we are offering ten Big Biology Day grants of up to £500 each for you to run your own Big Biology Day in your local area.

The RSB Big Biology Day grant scheme is now closed to applications.
